Herrera, Hayes-White, and Price to introduce the development of life-saving smart phone technology
 

Launch of smart phone application development empowers everyday citizens trained in CPR to provide immediate onsite life-saving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest

SAN FRANCISCO (Mar. 15, 2011)——City Attorney Dennis Herrera will be joined by San Francisco Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White and Fire Fighters Union Local 798 to announce the City's commitment to developing and implementing the Fire Department app – smartphone technology that alerts those trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to respond to nearby cardiac emergencies. San Ramon Valley Fire Chief Richard Price will be on hand to explain the technology, its positive impact on the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD), and how it will benefit the City and County of
San Francisco.

WHAT: Announcement of development of smartphone technology to assist in providing
bystander CPR and AED assistance during incidents of sudden cardiac arrest. San
Francisco will become the first major city to publicly endorse the SRVFPD's
national strategy to empower trained volunteers to respond to sudden cardiac
arrest events.
